Establishment of the Nagpur Committee: - Scheduled Tribes Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Nagpur Division, Nagpur has been established under the Government Resolution, STC 10 9 0/23942/186 / K.10, dated June 03, 1992 and the working of the committee has been started from 03 June 1992.
Administrative Structure: The Government has announced a number of facilities for the Scheduled Tribes to bring them to the main stream and their development. Some non-scheduled tribes are getting benefitted due to Nominative availing tribal facilities. To prevent these issues in Maharashtra, Maharashtra Govt have been transforming Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Vimukta Jatis, Nomadic Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Other Special Backward Classes Caste Certificate (Regulation of Pay Verification and Regulation) Act, 2000 (Maharashtra, No. 23) of 2001. In this Act and in the rules, all the procedures have been proposed to get and verify the certified certificates of persons belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. The functioning of the committee is of an arbitrary nature and at the time of inquiries, the committee is entitled to all the rights which are given to the civil court while deciding the claims under the Code of Civil Code, 1908, to the competent authority, the Appellate Authority and the Verification Committee. The responsibility of all the officials working in the committee's decision-making process is the same. In the decision making process, (1) Commissioner and Chairman (2) Joint Commissioner and Vice President, (3) Deputy Director (Research) and Member Secretary, (4) Senior Research Officer and Member and (5) Research Officer and Members participate.
